Mandarino Minutes for 3-3-23

 Dear Upton Middle School Families,

6th and 7th grade parents -

Please know that on Tuesday, March 7th, all 6th and 7th grade students will request their courses for the 2023-24 school year during Advisory.

The only choice for 6th graders is their full year elective: Choir, Band, Orchestra or PE. That is the easy one!

Seventh grade students - have more options because they are choosing their semester and/or year long electives. They will watch a slide presentation on March 7th during Advisory. The presentation is available to 7th graders on the 2028 google classroom starting Friday the 3rd at 3:00 pm. Students who choose to plan ahead and talk with a parent/guardian about electives can do so.

Thank you from the Guidance Department!

Women’s History Month -

Women's History Month is a dedicated month to reflect on the often-overlooked

contributions of women to United States historyFrom Abigail Adams to Susan B. Anthony, Sojourner Truth to Rosa Parks, the timeline

of women's history milestones stretches back to the founding of the United States.

For girls, knowing women's achievements expands their sense of what is possible.

For all of us, knowledge of women's strengths and contributions builds respect

and nourishes self esteem — crucial to all children and adults now, and in the years

to come. Educators are willing, often eager, to introduce women's history.
