Dear Upton Middle School Families,

7th & 8th Grade Dance next Friday -

Our first dance is quickly approaching and Student Council is busy preparing! The dance is next Friday, December 9th from 5:30-7:30 PM. This dance will be for 7th & 8th grade only. Admission is $4 OR you can bring an unwrapped/new toy valued at at least $4 that will be donated to the Wonderland Toy Store.

Spirit Week Next Week at UMS -

Monday: PJ Day

Tuesday: Staff dress like students and students dress like staff

Wednesday: World Cup Day

Thursday: Dress like your favorite holiday (example: St. Patrick's Day, Valentines Day, 4th of July, Christmas).

Friday: Color Wars; Holiday edition. 6th graders wear red, 7th graders wear green, 8th graders wear white. The grade that has the most students wearing their assigned color will win music during lunch for a day.

The Upton Book Fair is here! -

The fair in our media center will run from 11/28 through 12/9. Students will have opportunities to visit and shop through their ELA classes, but families can also shop through our online fair beginning on 11/28 -- just in time to browse for holiday surprises or gather and give gift suggestions to far-flung family members. Guidance Department Support -

As a Guidance Department, we are happy to connect families with outside resources. Here is some information about a local FREE resource for mental health support:

Andrews Community Counseling Center (ACCC) is accepting new clients starting in January 2023. Interested individuals are encouraged to call now (269-471-6238) and leave a confidential voicemail message to get their name toward the top of the waiting list. Graduate-level practicum students who provide these free counseling services at the ACCC are trained to counsel adults, adolescents, and children. Counseling sessions are completely confidential.

Lost and Found -

This note is to inform you that we have an abundance of items in our school's Lost & Found. There are many articles of clothing (largely, but not exclusively, hoodies and sweatshirts), many lunch boxes and water bottles and a few personal items.

These items have been left behind by students mainly in the cafeteria and auditorium this fall. We encourage you to have your student look through the piles if you or they believe they are missing something.

On December 15th all remaining items will be washed and donated to a local organization which provides for those in need. Thank you!
